Teaming Up with McLaren Racing to Drop 'Race Rewind' Digital Collectibles to Engage Fans

Web3 Can Help Build the McLaren Racing-OKX Community
Our partnership with McLaren Racing has taken us around the world this season - from the Middle East to Asia Pacific to Miami and Monaco. Wherever we can, we've taken the opportunity to engage with race fans. But we couldn't help but wonder how we could collaborate more deeply with McLaren to 'go exponential' as we interact with fans and merge our communities.
Although tens of thousands of spectators come to each race, there are still tens of millions of people who are following the spectacle on TV, social media and race recaps online. We knew there had to be a way to engage them and bring them closer to the visceral, intense and emotional on-track experience from afar.
Web3 is the new surface. With digital collectibles (NFTs) offered through our advanced wallet, we can put parts of the race experience on the blockchain in photo, video and audio formats. The rumble of the gear shift, the sounds of wheel-to-wheel racing and the chatter of the pit wall is what we want to bring to life. The result is 'Race Rewind,' a campaign that expands the utility crypto can offer by offering fans a digital artifact that can also unlock exclusive prizes.
Anyone can mint the first digital collectible, which commemorates the Canadian Grand Prix, between Friday and Monday here on our app free of any charges/ gas fees. Then on Tuesday, the digital collectible will be assigned a Classic, Rare, or Ultra Rare status. Depending on the rarity of the collectible, you'll be eligible for money-can't buy experiences and prizes including race tickets and signed merchandise.
But this isn't a one-off. F1 is known for captivating fans for every race throughout the year, and our campaign mirrors that format by incentivising our community to mint digital collectibles for each race going forward this season. Those who collect every NFT are eligible for a 'VIP' prize, which includes a VIP McLaren Fan Experience for a future race, US$2,500 for travel and accommodation, and a hot lap around the track. This is a truly special prize that few will ever be lucky enough to experience.
